Consumer Reports Names Corvette Stingray Best American Sports Car
Everything’s coming up Chevy!
The bowtie brand is getting tons of praise from some unexpected places. Not only did the American automaker rank higher than ever before in the recent J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study, but it also received a surprise endorsement from Consumer Reports, which named the Impala the Best Large Sedan on the market.
Now Chevrolet has earned some more recognition from CR, with the respected consumer advocacy publication ranking the C7 Corvette Stingray first among all American sports cars. The Corvette scored 92 points, blowing past its stable mate, the Chevy Camaro, which finished in second with 66 points.
Consumer Reports deputy editor Jeff Bartlett praised the C7’s 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine and 4.3 second 0-60 mph acceleration time, as well as the Stingray’s “fantastic” handling.
“It’s by far the most extreme and exciting Corvette that’s been widely offered,” Bartlett wrote.
Consumer Reports rates vehicles by rating them on over 50 criteria, including safety, performance, fuel efficiency, and value.
