‘Consumer Reports’ Names Toyota Prius Best Value
If Toyota were a television character they would be Brain, the conniving mouse from Pinky and the Brain bent on world domination. While the carmaker is already considered the top carmaker in the hybrid field, it now seems that Toyota is looking to take over the world. This week Consumer Reports magazine named the Toyota Prius Best Value in the car industry for the second time, adding a notch to Toyota’s world domination belt.

After dethroning the Honda Fit last year, the Prius was recognized once again for its outstanding performance, reliability and a ridiculously low, 47 cents/mile estimated five-year ownership costs.
“Prius’ 44 mpg overall is the best fuel economy of any non-plug-in car that Consumer Reports has tested,” said Consumer Reports Automotive Editor Rik Paul. “Though it’s not particularly cheap to buy, the Prius’ depreciation is so low that it costs less to own over the first five years than its initial MSRP. We call that a bargain.”
If you’re looking to find a way to waste your money, the report also found that the Nissan Armada, a huge SUV, is the worst value you can find with a high $1.20/mile operating cost. We think it’s safe to say that you should stick with the Toyota Prius.
