Lincoln Motor Company saw its positive US sales momentum brought to a halt in July, delivering a total of 8,875 vehicles for a year-over-year volume decrease of 2.5%. The decline in sales was brought about by the unusual occurrence of all four Lincoln SUVs seeing sales fall to some extent from July 2016.

The biggest winner for Lincoln in July was the Continental, which posted another impressive month of sales at a total of 958 vehicles delivered. The Continental’s performance was more than enough to offset a 19.2% loss from the Lincoln MKZ (2,399 vehicles delivered) and still cover the spread of 313 Lincoln MKS sedans sold in July 2016, delivering a 2.6% year-over-year increase for Lincoln Cars. Lincoln also sold a total of nine MKS sedans in July.

Lincoln also notes that the Continental came up big in terms of racking up big bucks, reporting that more than half of all Continentals sold in July belonged to the top-tier Reserve and Black Label trims.

Lincoln SUVs were not so lucky, falling 5.3% year-over-year with a total of 5,509 vehicles delivered. The Lincoln MKC was the closest to breaking even, falling just nine units year-over-year with a total of 2,129 vehicles delivered. Lincoln MKX sales fell 8.8% with 2,422 vehicles delivered, Navigator sales fell 4.2% with 732 vehicles delivered, and MKT sales fell 12.7% at 226 units delivered.

Despite a down month, Lincoln is humming along at a good clip through seven months. Brand sales are up 4.5% overall at 65,212 vehicles delivered; SUV sales are up 0.4% at 41,150 vehicles delivered, and car sales are up 12.3% at 24,062 vehicles delivered.
