GM Foundation Gives BackIt was announced last week that General Motors will be awarded the Corporate Leadership Award from the National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation at a ceremony in June.

According to General Motors’ press release, the Corporate Leadership Award will be given to GM to recognize the work of the General Motors Foundation in particular. Recently, the GM Foundation has donated $1 million across three Detroit charities in honor of former CEO, Dan Akerson, and his wife, given $400K to the Karmanos Cancer Institute, and another $1 million to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture.

The Tuesday, June 17, Celebration of Service to America Awards ceremony will be held at the National Building Museum. For 16 years, the awards have honored those who have performed exceptional public service; former honorees include Muhammad Ali, Bill Clinton, Sir Elton John, and Stevie Wonder.

The relatively-new Corporate Leadership Award has been handed out every year since 2010, thus far going to Johnson & Johnson, Target, State Farm, and Lowe’s Home Improvement.
