Earlier this month, GM’s Opel brand revealed a new Opel Astra K to the world in Frankfurt. The compact car has received some serious upgrades on par with a luxury vehicle, such as advanced safety features, new headlights, and massaging seats.

That’s right, we said massaging seats.

Currently available as a hatchback and a touring version, a sedan and coupe are said to be in development.

This car sounds exciting, and we agree with anyone who says it’s not fair that the US doesn’t get a crack at this energetic compact car. However, we are holding on to a glimmer of hope. Rumors are swirling that the Astra could be on its way to America to be sold wearing a Buick badge.

Would it be a new model or billed as a new generation of a current offering? Drew Singer of GM Authority speculates that it could arrive under the guise of an updated Buick Verano.

Of course, this is pure speculation, so there is no projected date for the Opel Astra to hitch a ride to America. If you really like the look of this European cruiser, it is similar to the Chevrolet Cruze in many aspects. While you research that vehicle, we’ll be here crossing all our fingers and toes for an Astra.
