Sure, it’s only January and there’s still plenty of basketball left in the NBA regular season. But it’s always fun to look at the stats and try to determine who will be the winner of the 2017 MVP award. For the past two years, including the first ever unanimous decision, Kia presented the award to Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry. Fans and analysts have some other top contenders in mind for the award this year.

Why Buy Kia? Here are the top reasons to consider

We have some basketball fans here at The News Wheel and this is what our current top five (in no particular order) looks like for the Kia MVP award.

James Harden, Houston Rockets

Harden’s gotten a lot of slack in the past for being absolutely motionless when it comes to defense but the Rockets shooting guard has been on a hot streak on offense lately. Earlier this week against Milwaukee, Harden scored a 38-point game with 6 rebounds, 8 assists, and 2 blocks. If he keeps this pace, the Rockets could very well find themselves surpassing the Spurs and Warriors in the Western Conference.

Kevin Durant, Golden State Warriors

KD has constantly been proving his worth to his new team with stellar scoring numbers, including his recent season high of 40 points against his former Oklahoma City Thunder teammates. Durant has already had 8 games of 30 plus points and continues to be a driving force for the Warriors this year, with plenty of rebounds and assists to complement his scoring.

LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cavaliers went through a bit of a rough patch recently but that doesn’t stay true to LeBron’s successes this season. King James is the current top scorer for the Cavs with an average of 25.5 points per game and has been providing his teammates with an outstanding number of assists and rebounds. As the reigning champs and one of the most favored teams to reach the Finals this year, there’s no doubt that everyone will have an eye on LeBron and the Cavs moving forward.

Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City Thunder

If you look at the Thunder’s stats, you’ll see the name Westbrook repeatedly, and for good reason. Averaging 30.6 points per game and a season high of 51 points in an overtime win against Phoenix, Mr. Triple-Double continues to light up the court with his skills. While the Thunder haven’t had much success on the road, Westbrook will surely maintain his success throughout the season.

Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors

In his last 10 games, the Baby-Faced Assassin has managed 26.1 points per game and has been vital with assists to teammates Durant and Thompson in many Warriors wins. The two-time MVP has undoubtedly had a stellar 2017 so far and will continue to foster Golden State’s success as the current top team in the Western Conference and the NBA.

As the official sponsor of the NBA, Kia will certainly be keeping tabs on all of these players as the season progresses. What are your thoughts on this year’s talent? Let us know in the comments below.
