When you’re in the market for a new vehicle, it’s never as simple as just walking into the dealership and leaving with your dream ride. Before you even think about setting foot in a car dealership, you probably turn to the knowledgeable people of the internet to learn more about your chosen model’s ratings, safety features, and gadgets. And now, a study has found that customers consider Toyota vehicles more than any other brand when pondering which model to buy next.

The 2015 Toyota Camry

The experts at Edmunds.com collected the data in their “Consumer Vehicle Consideration by Make” report for October, and Toyota came out on top. According to the numbers, 14.6% of customers consider Toyota models, compared to 11.8% who consider Honda, and 11.4% who consider Ford. That’s quite a lead for the Japanese automaker.

The data is collected by analyzing the percentage of Edmunds.com visitors who view information about various vehicles, from reviews and specs to pricing and photos. According to these numbers, more visitors to the website checked out vehicles by Toyota than any other brand. It’s not clear why this is, but it could definitely be due in part to customer satisfaction, since Toyota is found to rank in the top six automakers in the American Customer Satisfaction Index.

Whatever the reasoning, it’s clear that Toyota is a popular brand with American drivers. With models like the refreshed 2015 Camry, the power-hungry Tundra, and the ultra-efficient Prius, I for one am not particularly surprised by these findings.
