At 5.6 meters in length, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 is one seriously long coupe

Cadillac might have wowed the crowd at Pebble Beach with its new Escala Concept, but it was Mercedes who was the talk of the town during Monterey Car Week after it revealed the new Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 coupe.

Mercedes released teaser images of its new Maybach coupe last week, which gave car lovers an idea of the vehicle’s incredible length and eloquent design, but what Mercedes didn’t say before the car’s official unveil was that the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 is a pure electric vehicle. Powered by four permanent magnet synchronous electric motors, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 features all-wheel drive, packs 738 horsepower, has a top speed of 155 mph, and can zip from 0 to 62 mph in less than four seconds.

Perhaps even more impressive, the new Maybach coupe has a charging capacity of up to 350 kW thanks to DC charging, which is based on the CCS standard. This tech allows the Maybach to receive 62 miles of driving range after being charged for just five minutes. Furthermore, the vehicle has a total driving range of more than 200 miles and its battery technology can be charged using a conventional domestic outlet, a cable connection at a public charging station, or through the use of an electromagnetic field.

The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 has a total length of 18.5 feet and the front of the vehicle features a massive radiator grille with vertical struts, which Mercedes said was influenced by the design of pinstriped suits. Moreover, the Maybach 6 also features air outlets behind the wheel arches, gullwing doors, and eye-catching 24-inch wheels.

Taking a look inside the coupe, you’ll find a unique dashboard concept that wraps around the door and then into the design of the leather seats. Elm is used on the floor to provide additional refinement, and wood trim can also be found on the door, as well as on the dashboard. Lastly, there are two suitcases located in the front luggage area that Mercedes created specifically for this vehicle.

“Our sensational coupe, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6, represents the ultimate in contemporary luxury. It is hot and cool”, said Gorden Wagener, head of design at Daimler AG. “With its intelligent appeal and reduced, technoid look, it perfectly embodies our design philosophy of sensual purity and our pursuit of aerodynamic efficiency.”

Daimler has hasn’t let it be known whether the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 could eventually become a production model and no price figures have been announced for the new Maybach coupe.
