Tomorrow’s Campingworld.com 500 Sprint Cup Race at Talladega Superspeedway is a pretty big deal. It’s the last race in the Contender Round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup, and only eight drivers will advance to the Eliminator Round. After analyzing the possible points to be earned, it’s clear that Dale Earnhardt Jr. needs to win the race to move on. While Dale Jr. has been pretty successful at the challenging track, he has brought along a special Chevrolet car for extra luck to help him reach the podium.

A Sprint Cup racing team has many cars at its disposal, as well as many parts to make repairs or modifications as the season progresses. This particular car is actually a lucky Chevy chassis, and this season it carried him to victory lane in a pre-season race and at Daytona in July. As if it couldn’t get any better, the same chassis helped Dale Jr. win in May at Talladega.

Dale Earnhardt is currently 11th in Sprint Cup points coming into tomorrow’s race. He has never had three Sprint Cup restrictor-plate wins in one season, but he is tied with Jeff Gordon as the active NASCAR racer with the most wins at Talladega. With the right track conditions, he could pull off a win.

Talladega is a notoriously difficult track. We will see if Dale Earnhardt Jr’s previous luck with this car and the track are the perfect storm for victory.
