When Dale Earnhardt Jr. first broke into the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 1999, he drove the No. 8 Chevy owned by his father and sponsored by Budweiser, but when he decided to switch teams to Hendrick Motorsports in 2008, he also switched rides to the No. 88 Chevy with sponsorship provided by Mountain Dew AMP and National Guard. Seven years later, Dale Jr. is changing paint schemes and sponsorship again, but luckily for his fans with the “88” tattooed into their skin, Dale Jr. will not be switching numbers.

TaxSlayer.com shared a picture via Instagram on October 5th, which showed how the No. 88 Chevrolet SS will look during the 2016 season. Earnhardt Jr. reportedly helped design the new racecar and said inspiration came from one of Dale Earnhardt Sr.’s old paint schemes.

While the new paint job will only appear on Earnhardt Jr’s car for one race, TaxSlayer.com will become an associate sponsor of Earnhardt Jr.’s all the way through the 2016 season. The company will also serve as the main sponsor for a JR Motorsports racecar in 10 XFINITY races for 2016.

NASCAR fans have the opportunity to win a t-shirt featuring this new paint scheme, which Earnhardt Jr. autographed, by entering a contest at TaxSlayer.com/88days.

Earnhardt Jr. has won two races during the 2015 season and recently advanced to the Contender Round of NASCAR’s playoffs, which is is an accomplishment that wasn’t matched by six-time Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson.

Earnhardt Jr. will be racing next at Charlotte Motor Speedway on October 10th. The race will be broadcast by NBC and has a scheduled start time of 7pm.
