David Higgins Sets Course Record at 2014 Subaru Mt. Washington Hillclimb
At the 2014 Subaru Mt. Washington Hillclimb, Subaru Rally Team USA’s David Higgins toppled his own 2011 course record with a 6 minute and 9.09 second performance. Higgins’ latest feat bests his previous run on the Mt. Washington Auto Road by more than two seconds.

Higgins’ teammate Travis Pastrana and co-driver Chrissie Beavis finished second overall, trailing by a mere three seconds. Higgins and Pastrana also posted a one-two finish in the Rally America Championship event. The win marks Higgins’ fourth this year and puts him well on pace for his fourth Driver’s Title.
“It was a great event and we put in a big effort for those few seconds,” Higgins told Subaru. “There is so much history here and it’s great to be a part of it again for Subaru. This was a big challenge this weekend as we had Pastrana and our old record staring us down. But Craig (Drew) was perfect on the notes and Subaru gave me a car that was perfect.”

Higgins bested his old record despite new restrictions being in place during the 2014 Subaru Mt. Washington Hillclimb that were not in effect during his 2011 effort. Higgins’ 2014 WRX STI was around 500 pounds heavier and 100 horsepower weaker than the record-breaking car, but the addition of co-driver Craig Drew ultimately proved essential to setting a new benchmark.
