de Nysschen: Cadillac Compact Crossover to Slot Below SRX in 2017-18

Johan de Nysschen already confirmed today that Cadillac has initiated plans to roll out a small entry-level sedan to slot in beneath the ATS and compete with other small entry-level luxury sedans sold by competitors for much lower prices. Now, the President of Cadillac says that future plans also include a new small crossover, which will stem from a $12-billion investment from General Motors.
de Nysschen told Autoblog Tuesday that the aforementioned entry-level sedan will hit the market in 2017. From there, a compact crossover that will slot in just below the top-selling SRX will be released, likely in late 2017 or early 2018.
Further, de Nysschen noted that Cadillac would like to add an SUV that will sit between the SRX and the Escalade somewhere down the line. For 2020, de Nysschen teased the long-discussed high-priced flagship that might be based upon the gorgeous Elmiraj concept.
It was also noted in a conversation with MLive that Cadillac is not terribly concerned with sales declines in the United States so long as rising sales in international markets continue to offset those losses and lead to global sales records.
“It doesn’t matter to me where the dollar comes from, from Beijing or from New York, it doesn’t matter. It comes to me, right?” de Nysschen said. “So I can manage these markets and it allows me to steer the course. And I am very comfortable.”
From the sound of it, Cadillac is in some mighty sure hands.
