Dealers to Get First Peek of 2018 Jeep Grand Wagoneer in Vegas This August
It was over a year ago that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) laid out its impressive vision of the next several years. Among the big announcements was word that Jeep would be reviving the Grand Wagoneer (as well as killing the Patriot and Compass and updating the Wrangler). A couple months back, we got confirmation that FCA was still on track to push out the Grand Wagoneer for 2018. When it hits the market, the 2018 Jeep Grand Wagoneer will be the most expensive Jeep SUV to have ever been offered.

Automotive News is now reporting that FCA plans to give dealers a sneak peek of the Grand Wagoneer at its biennial dealer showcase in Las Vegas this August. (What better way to get dealers to fork over the cash and fly out to Vegas, eh?) As someone in the car dealing game myself, I am so pumped to go check out the Grand Wagoneer a couple years before it actually hits dealer lots.
As of now, the plan is to build the new Grand Wagoneer on the 2017 Grand Cherokee platform, which will be fully redesigned from the current one. However, the 2018 Grand Wagoneer will add a third row to the two that the Grand Cherokee offers, and thus will sit above the Grand Cherokee both in size and price. The ultimate goal is to compete with the Range Rover, because it absolutely ticks FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne off that Jeep isn’t currently offering something comparable to the Range Rover.
“When I see a Range Rover on the street,” said Marchionne, “my blood boils, because we should be able to do a thing like that. And we will.”
That thing, of course, is the Grand Wagoneer. Huzzah!
