Defunct Chrysler 300 SRT Still Available in Australia
The Australian-market Chrysler 300 SRT offers superior power and a terrific interior
If you were one of the many people who were upset when Chrysler axed the Chrysler 300 SRT, then we have some great news—you can still get it. All you have to do is move to Australia.
While the 300 SRT is now defunct in the United States, the country Down Under offers an updated model that absolutely thrives. Similar to the past American version, the Australian 300 SRT uses a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine for power, churning out 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.
Unlike the American version, though, the Australian-spec car has a new eight-speed automatic transmission that not only makes the 300 SRT a joy to drive—it also offers some terrific gas mileage, too. Especially when you compare it to the old-school five-speed automatic offered in the American version.
This isn’t where the differences end, either. The Australian 300 SRT has a noticeable facelift with a new headlight design, a bigger grille with mesh inserts, and a SRT emblem. There are also two rows of LED daytime running lights and a splitter on the lower bumper, giving the SRT a classy, yet sporty feel.
If these changes—plus a significantly more plush interior—aren’t enough to make you wish you could get your hands on the Chrysler 300 SRT again, we don’t know what will.
