2016 Ford F-150 ads

Hey, guess what? It’s football season again. We know, you probably hadn’t noticed at all, but if you weren’t sure, the sudden abundance of new advertisements for the 2016 Ford F-150 ought to clue you in.

Ford will be dropping three new TV ads throughout the NFL regular season, the first of which will begin airing during Sunday’s opening weekend matchups on FOX NFL Sunday. The commercials emphasize everything from power and efficiency to safety and technology, and while they are all different in some ways, there is one thing that they all share in common: Denis Leary yelling.

“Wake-Up Call” is what Ford calls “a leadership anthem spot highlighting Ford F-150 best-in-class claims, including the benefits of high-strength, military-grade, aluminum alloy that helps save up to 700 pounds of weight to improve towing, payload, and gas mileage.” This is all true, and it is all shouted at you by Leary!

“Battle-Tested” focuses on the engineering team and the steps they took to make the 2015 F-150 the only full-size, light-duty pickup to earn five stars from the NHTSA. Leary will tell you all about this in his obnoxious rubble voice.

Finally, “Brainstorm” focuses on the Pro Trailer Backup Assist feature, soothingly explained to you by a man who presumably ripped off about 80% of his stand-up material from Bill Hicks.

It’s gonna be a great season. Hope you’re ready for 1) some football 2) Denis Leary’s cigarette-throttled growl.
