Denny Hamlin Finally Undergoes Knee Surgery

Back in September, NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin tore his ACL while playing basketball. Despite this, Hamlin continued driving his No. 11 Toyota Camry through the 11 remaining races of the Sprint Cup Series, the finale being held on November 22nd, finishing in ninth place overall. Now that the series is over, Denny Hamlin has decided to do something about that torn right ACL by having knee surgery.
Hamlin’s team, Joe Gibbs Racing, released a statement, saying “Hamlin is expected to make a full recovery in time for the start of the 2016 NASCAR season in February.”
This isn’t the first time Denny Hamlin has had ACL surgery. Back in 2010, he tore his left ACL, opting to have surgery during an off-week so he wouldn’t miss any races that season. If that’s not dedication, we don’t know what is.
Hamlin’s surgery means he will miss a couple of events today and tomorrow honoring the top-16 drivers, but it’s possible he might make an appearance at Friday’s awards banquet.
