Have you ever looked at the dashboard in your car and thought that material would be great for a dress?

If you answered yes, then you’re just like fashion designer Janna Coumoundouros, who recently created four dresses out of the material per request of Inteva Products LLC.

“Even though it’s automotive material, they’re very elegant,” says Coumoundouros. “They have a really classic, beautiful look to them, too, so people are very, very surprised when they find out what the material is.”

The specific material used to create the dresses is Inteather, which is a thermoplastic olefin material that can be found in the instrument panels of many GM automobiles. The Cadillac XT5, Chevy Traverse, and GMC Acadia all utilize Inteather in their respective cabins.

The unique dresses were displayed at the North American International Auto Show during a pop-up fashion show on Jan. 22nd. Four female models adorned the black dresses and proceeded to walk back and forth in an area near both a GMC Sierra and Yukon, which just so happen to be two other vehicles that make use of Inteather.

Ken Gassman, who works for Inteva and oversees Inteather’s commercial usage, was present at the fashion show and he emphatically approved of the specially designed garments.

“I thought the dresses looked great,” Bassman said. “The designer, Janna, is doing a phenomenal job.”
