Many of the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon's premium features can be added on for the price of only $1

Have a cool $85,000 just lying around?

It’s been more than a month since the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon was finally revealed during the New York International Auto Show. During this time, auto enthusiasts received a ton of information surrounding Dodge’s demonic performance vehicle, from its 9.65-second quarter-mile time to its 840 horsepower output.

Yet one vital question continued to go unanswered: How much would the Dodge Demon cost? Today, Dodge revealed the answer that automotive enthusiasts have been seeking.

The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will start at $84,995.

Dodge Challenger Features: The Latest 2017 Dodge Challenger Features Make It the Best Challenger Yet

The Demon’s base asking price includes a $1,700 gas guzzler tax, but excludes a standard $1,095 destination fee. When all is said and done, the Dodge Demon will cost drivers almost as much as the 2017 Dodge Viper, which had an asking price of $90,495.

As far as other Challenger vehicles go, the 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat has a minimum asking price of $64,195, making the Demon $20,000 more than the Challenger’s current most expensive model. The Demon is also far more expensive than the current base model of the Challenger, which is available for a price of $26,995.

The 2017 Dodge Viper will available again for a limited time

Step aside, Viper! There’s a new most-expensive Dodge model in town.

Nevertheless, Dodge assures potential Demon drivers that it worked as much value into the vehicle as possible.

“Eighty-five thousand dollars is not just a number in a business case to Dodge; we know it’s a lot of money and a significant up-charge over a Challenger Hellcat,” said Tim Kuniskis, Head of Passenger Cars for Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA North America. “We worked very hard to build as much value into the Challenger SRT Demon as possible – features, performance and exclusivity that simply can’t be duplicated with a goal of maintaining, and possibly even growing, as much future value as possible.”

Another way Dodge is planning on adding value to its new performance vehicle? By only charging $1 for some of the Dodge Demon’s most premium features.

In order to unlock the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon’s full 840-horsepower performance, drivers will need the assistance of the exclusive Dodge Demon Crate, full of track tools and performance parts. Fortunately for those drivers that want to take the Demon’s performance to the extreme, the Demon Crate is one of those $1 features.

Included within the Demon-branded box are the following performance parts

  • Two narrow, front-runner drag wheels
  • Performance powertrain control module with high-octane engine calibration
  • Replacement instrument panel switch module with high-octane button
  • Personalized ID badge
  • Conical performance air filter
  • Two valve stems
  • Passenger mirror block-off plate

Other $1 features that can be added to the Dodge Demon include a front passenger seat and a row of rear seats. The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon only comes standard with one seat.

However, not all of the features drivers can add to their Demon only cost a buck. A package with Laguna Leather seats and an 18-speaker Harman Kardon Audio system will cost drivers $2,495. The most expensive add-on is a power sunroof, available for an additional $4,995.

As for customizing your Dodge Demon, Dodge provides 15 different exterior colors, including its popular Go Mango and Plum Crazy color schemes. A 3-year/36,000-mile limited vehicle warranty and 5-year/60,000-mile limited powertrain warranty come standard with every vehicle.

15 different colors, and yet all of the promotional photos show it in red.

When the Challenger Hellcat first hit dealership lots, many of those dealerships tried to mark up the price. This time around, Dodge has reassured drivers that it is implementing several techniques to ensure that these kind of markups don’t affect the starting price of the Dodge Demon.

It would appear that Dodge has kept its promise about keeping the Demon below a six-figure price point. Now drivers just need to be one of the lucky 3,300 owners of the new 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon.
