Dodge has increased the production rate for the 2016 Dodge SRT Hellcat models after the 2015 models quickly sold out

When Dodge first released the SRT Hellcat, it seemed like everyone and their mother wanted one. Quickly, demand for the speedy car outstripped the supply, allowing dealers to increase their prices significantly. Dodge wasn’t too happy about this and now, the American carmaker has decided to not only cancel pending 2015 orders and change the way it allocates cars to dealerships, but to also increase the production of 2016 models.

Right now, Dodge has built about 4,000 Charger and Challenger Hellcat models. This number will more than double for the 2016 model year. While the exact production number hasn’t been officially announced yet, just the mere announcement of more models has tickled the fancy of performance-loving drivers across the country.

Though there will be more Hellcats out on dealership lots, we wouldn’t expect them to wait around for you. The 2016 model year Hellcats will be more expensive than their predecessors, but will come with new standard “Laguna leather” interiors, Uconnect 8.4, and five years of Sirius XM radio. Those customers who currently have pending 2015 Hellcat orders will receive a voucher to get a 2016 model year SRT Hellcat at the 2015 price, though it doesn’t override dealer markups.
