Dodge Sales Surpass Ram Sales for FCA in August
Thanks to large cars like the Charger and Challenger, Dodge managed to overtake Ram in terms of sales last month, with FCA's overall sales down by 11%
So far in 2017, Ram has been the true success story of the Fiat Chrysler family. However, August was evidently Dodge’s time to shine, with the performance brand surpassing Ram in sales. Despite this milestone for Dodge, FCA’s overall sales were still down 11% last month.
On the Rise: Ram’s Market Share Sees Steady Increase
Across all of its brands, FCA sold 176,033 vehicles last month. In August of 2016, the brand manged to sell 196,805. As stated previously, Dodge stood out as the brand with the healthiest sales in August. This is thanks in part to Dodge’s lineup of large cars.
The Dodge Challenger once again outsold the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro last month. While Challengers sales came in at 6,253 units, Ford and Chevy sold 5,535 Mustangs and 5,017 Camaros, respectively.
Dodge sales totaled 43,608 vehicles by the end of the month. This placed Dodge just above Ram in terms of sales, with 43,322 Ram vehicles sold in August. Of course, Ram is still ahead in terms of year-to-date sales, with 367,007 vehicles sold and a 5% sales increase. Dodge, on the other hand, has experienced a 5% sales decrease so far this year.
