“The addition of support for the Chevrolet Express platform is a natural expansion for EchoDrive from both a technical and a market perspective, and one that allows more fleets to benefit more fully from our EchoDrive plug-in hybrid system,” said Dan Kennedy, CEO of Echo Automotive, in a statement. “We look forward to demonstrating the impact EchoDrive delivers to fleet managers in reducing operating costs, delivering greater fuel efficiency and promoting sustainability across both the Ford and GM platforms.”

According to Echo Automotive, advantages to using the EchoDrive PHEV system include a fuel efficiency increase of up to 50 percent, risk-free powertrain integration backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty, and a quick (4-6 hour) installation time.

The EchoDrive PHEV system recently took home the 2014 Green Award at The Work Truck Show in Indianapolis for the second year in a row. It was praised for the ease with which it can be installed/uninstalled and for its effectiveness in saving fuel and reducing emissions.
