Event to be held this Saturday in the City of Angels

Mark your calendars, because this Saturday, May 10th, the 20th annual Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) Revlon Run/Walk for Women sponsored by Toyota will take place at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum at Exposition Park in the City of Angels. The run/walk was first held in 1994 in both Los Angeles and New York, and over the years the event has raised over $70 million to help fight women’s cancers. The New York run/walk was held last weekend, May 3rd, and judging by the number of pictures splashed across Facebook, it was a huge success.

EIF Revlon Run/Walk for Women Sponsored by ToyotaThe course in Los Angeles is a total of 5.6 kilometers, or 3.5 miles. Participants can choose to either run or walk, depending on their personal preferences. Each participant receives a race t-shirt and bib in advance of the race, as well as a goodie bag upon crossing the finish line. Those who have pre-registered for the event can pick up their t-shirts and bibs in advance at one of five locations, and will need to bring their receipt or participant ID number. If you haven’t registered, or if you can’t make it to any of the pre-race day locations, you can pick up your t-shirt and bib the morning of the race, starting at 7:00am. The race itself starts at 8:45am for runners, and 9:00am for walkers, following the opening ceremony held at 8:00am.

Entry fees for both the run and the walk at $35 if you register in advance, and $45 for day-of-event registration. Fundraising is key to the EIF Revlon Run/Walk for Women, and to show its appreciation the organization offers fundraising awards at various levels. These awards range from a Marika ArmWallet at the $250 level, to a NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto single-serve coffee machine at the $2,000 level, and a Surprise Award for those who manage to raise $5,000 or more.

This year’s hosts include Revlon Brand Ambassador Halle Berry, Entertainment Tonight’s Brooke Anderson, and actress Christina Applegate.

For inspiration and to see why others choose to walk or run in this event, you can read participants’ stories on the event’s website, or share your own story to inspire others to join in. Whether or not you’ll be running or walking this weekend, you’re sure to find inspiration in these women’s stories.
