As 2017 comes to a close, Nissan announced some big executive management changes to head into 2018 with a fresh team. It’s not surprising that there is a bit of change going on in the head office, since Nissan gained a new CEO in Hiroto Saikawa after Carlos Ghosn stepped back to deal with Mitsubishi and the Alliance as a whole. One of the new executives comes from France, home of Renault, and one is from Japan, Nissan’s base.

First up is Hideyuki Sakamoto, who is moving from his position as Executive Vice President Of Product Engineering to Executive Vice President Of Manufacturing And Supply Chain Management, reporting to Chief Competitive Officer Yasuhiro Yamauchi, his current boss. Sakamoto first arrived at Nissan in 1980 and has climbed the company ladder as an engineer to management positions over common platforms and production engineering.

Denis Le Vot will be transferring from his role as Senior Vice President and Chairman of the Eurasia Region for Groupe Renault to Senior Vice President and Chairman of the Management Committee for Nissan North America. This shift to Nissan and America means that he will now report to Chief Performance Officer José Muñoz. Le Vot was hired by Renault in 1990 and started his career focused on aftersales, sales, and marketing. From there he was promoted to roles such as Chief Operating Officer of Renault Russia and Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Europe/G9.

Congratulations to both gentlemen on their new roles. Hideyuki Sakamoto will take up the reins on January first, and Denis Le Vot will report for duty on January 16th.
