EyesOn Design Excellence Award Given to the Buick Avista Concept

Praise for the Buick Avista Just keeps coming as it recently won the EyesOn Design Excellence Award

Earlier this week, Buick revealed the Avista Concept at the North American International Auto Show and the sleek looking car is already receiving some prestigious awards.

The recent honor bestowed upon the new Buick was the Award for Design Excellence for a Concept Car. This award was given by EyesOn Design, which is a benefit for Henry Ford Health System’s Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology. This is the second straight year Buick received this award, as last year’s Avenir Concept also received the very same honor.

“Design has always played a large role in Buick’s rich history and recent success,” said Bryan Nesbitt, executive director, Buick Global Design. “The Avista concept has been a labor of love by the team of designers, sculptors, engineers and talented craftspeople, including our UAW partners, who created this beautiful statement of Buick design. Avista represents the future essence of Buick design.”

The Buick Avista Concept is a a 2+2 coupe that shares the same platform used in the new Chevy Camaro and Cadillac ATS. Under the hood, the Avista features a twin-turbocharged V6 engine good for 400 horsepower. The Avista also includes aluminum and carbon fiber accents, as well as a distinctive three-dimensional grille with a mesh background that includes Buick’s new winged tri-shield insignia.

“The Avista embodies the dynamic soul of Buick,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global Buick Sales, Service and Marketing. “It is a modern expression of the brand’s heritage of sophisticated performance, communicated with beautiful elegance.”
