2018 presented a fresh start for the brands that make up Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, after a previous year of several sales declines. While several of FCA’s brands began the new year with impressive sales gains, others did not experience that same level of improvement.

Jeep, which had consistently lost sales throughout most of 2017, started the year off with a 2% sales increase. Jeep sold 59,703 vehicles last month, as compared to the 58,415 vehicles it sold a year prior.

One of the best sales improvements for the brand came in the form of the Jeep Compass.  Sales for the recently-redesigned Compass were up by a massive 222%.

FCA’s other mainline brands didn’t fare as well. Even the Ram brand experienced a sales decline of 16% last month.

Most surprising, however, was a 31% sales decline for the Dodge brand. The Dodge Journey, usually Dodge’s best-selling model, only sold 3,362 units last month, a sales loss of 73%.

Meanwhile, the Dodge Challenger was able to maintain rather steady sales. Dodge sold a mere 12 more Challengers last month than it did in January of 2017.

Challenger sales remained virtually unchanged compared to a year ago

All the while, Alfa Romeo sales continued to rise. FCA sold 1,648 Alfa vehicles last month, a big improvement over the 108 it had sold a year prior.
