FCA US Recruits 20 Colleges to Train Future Dealership Service Technicians
Fiat Chrysler wants the best technicians working on your FCA US vehicles. That’s why it comes as no surprise that the Italian-American carmaker is enlisting the help of 20 colleges to grow its network of certified technical training sites.
The program, which is called Mopar Career Automotive Program (CAP) LOCAL, is used to train about 1,000 students annually across the country, thanks in part to its partnership with the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3). Now, this program is expanding even more.
“Together, with our partner NC3, we are making great progress in expanding our geographic footprint of training sites by identifying and certifying colleges nationwide that have highly qualified automotive programs,” said John Fox, Director of Dealer Training at FCA US LLC. “Plans are to launch 30 additional education sites during 2016 and we are well on our way to reaching our goal of enlisting more than 100 certified colleges by 2018.”
The Mopar CAP LOCAL program allows technicians to work as Level 1 Technicians upon graduating from a certified, two-year training institutes. This includes a university, college, community college, or technical center. NC3 makes sure each Mopar CAP LOCAL school meets the strict requirements necessary for this to happen.
Currently, the program has launched 18 CAP LOCAL schools across the country, and plans on enlisting more schools in secondary and rural markets.
