February sales figures for Kia Motors America have been released, with the Korean automaker reporting total sales of 44,030 vehicles last month. That number represents a 6.8% increase over the same period last year.

Kia’s sales continue to be powered primarily by the Optima (11,584 units sold), the Soul (9,965), and the new 2016 Sorento (8,518).

“Despite the difficult weather in some parts of the country, key indicators signal the continued improvement of the U.S. economy, which is driving more customers to our showrooms to experience world-class Kia products, including the Sportage, which recently was recognized in the J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study as the leader in the Small SUV category,” said Michael Sprague, executive vice president of Kia’s sales & marketing.  “The Kia ownership experience continues to evolve and with products like the completely redesigned Sorento and Sedona now in dealer showrooms across the country, consumers are drawn to one of the youngest and best-looking lineups in the business.”

How Many K900s Did LeBron James Sell?

Ever since LeBron James became the official luxury ambassador of the 2015 Kia K900, we’ve been tracking how well sales of the luxury sedan have improved during King James’ tenure as the car’s spokesman. Only 62 Kia K900s were sold in October 2014, but after LeBron started appearing in television ads in November, the K900 saw its sales figures rise slowly but surely, eventually peaking with 119 units sold in January 2015.

Unfortunately, last month, Kia only sold… 62 K900s.

That’s right, Kia K900 sales have officially returned to pre-LeBron levels. Better start putting a little more time into those ads, James. Practice makes perfect.

On the other hand, James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan’s Super Bowl commercial for the Kia Sorento seems to have paid off—after selling 7,453 Sorentos in January (and just 7,237 in February 2014), the Sorento increased dramatically last month to 8,518 sales.

Well done, Mr. Bond.
