Beginning this month, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) will begin exporting its vehicles from the port of Wilmington, Delaware, according to a recent release from the American automaker.

The vehicles in question will be those manufactured in Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio, as well as Ontario, Canada, and that are destined for the Middle East. These were previously shipped from a port in Baltimore. Vehicles shipped from the port at Wilmington will be transported on vessels managed by Liberty Global Logistics and Hoegh Autoliners.

No vehicles have actually been shipped quite yet. FCA expects the first shipment to depart the port halfway through the month, or a little bit later.

Bill Cook, Head of Logistics and Customs for FCA, released the following statement: “FCA US made the decision to use the Wilmington port based on Autoport’s expertise in handling Middle East exports for other OEMs as well as a strategic alignment with deep sea ocean carriers. The expansion of our export operations is important to FCA US as we continue to increase distribution of finished vehicles worldwide.”
