Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is now a marketing sponsor for Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles might not be Luke’s father, but that doesn’t mean the Italian-American carmaker doesn’t have a lead role to play in the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie that opens in December. The carmaker’s character? Marketing sponsor.

The automaker was recently named one of seven global companies that will participate in “an expansive, historic promotional campaign,” to support the newest addition to the Star Wars legacy, which is being produced by Lucasfilm.

“Our partners have all delivered original, stand-out campaigns that capture the familiar fun and excited of our galaxy far, far away that we hope will delight fans as they get ready to experience Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” said Lucasfilm in a press release.

This isn’t the first time Fiat Chrysler has teamed up with Hollywood for promotion purposes. Dodge has been featured in the Fast and Furious film franchise since it began, while Olivier Francois, the company’s Chief Marketing Officer, has also managed to land musicians like Bob Dylan, Eminem, and actor/director Clint Eastwood for Super Bowl commercials.

The Italian-American automaker has even developed commercials with music video footage from musicians like Phillip Phillips, Fergie, Imagine Dragons, and Gwen Stefani.

Along with Fiat Chrysler, the other Star Wars marketing sponsors include Covergirl & Max Factor, Duracell, General Mills, Hewlett Packard, Subway, and Verizon.
