Ford commercial vehicle sales surpassed the 100,000 mark after the October campaign, hitting a new year-to-date sales record and furthering the automaker’s superiority over rival brands.

Ford CV sales totaled 7,958 units in October, down 4.6% year-over-year and consistent with the overall UK CV sales decline for the month. Ford car sales totaled 21,311 units, a full 6,462 registrations ahead of the second-place brand.

“Ford continues to build on the strength of its core models in the UK market, while stretching into new segments with models such as Mustang and the Vignale range,” said Andy Barratt, Ford of Britain chairman and managing director. “Fiesta is in its eighth year as the UK market leader, while the success of our extended Ford CV family is demonstrated by the Transit range sales exceeding those of any car—apart from Fiesta.”

The Fiesta was once again the best-selling vehicle in the UK in October with a total of 7,806 deliveries. The continued success of the Fiesta has led Ford to retail car sales supremacy, with the Blue Oval brand controlling a 12.5% market share.

The Transit Custom and Transit continue to sit at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots in terms of commercial vehicle sales; the Transit Connect, Transit Courier, Fiesta van, and Ranger all lead their respective segments.

To date, Ford enjoys a total vehicle sales lead of more than 155,000 units over the second-biggest brand in the UK.
