The hits just keep on coming for Ford: in this week’s presentation of the sixth annual Hispanic Motor Press Awards Best Cars of 2016, the automaker’s Fiesta and Shelby GT350 Mustang will both be honored in their respective categories. The award-winners were announced on Tuesday, and the awards proper are scheduled to be doled out on Thursday at the start of the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The 2016 Ford Fiesta earned top honors in the subcompact category thanks to, among other things, its fun-to-drive factor and the availability of the multi-award-winning 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine. The higher-end Fiesta ST trim, incredibly popular with performance enthusiasts, no doubt contributed to its win.

The Shelby GT350 Mustang, which was also named the AutoGuide.com Reader’s Choice Car of the Year earlier this week, also earned the award for top American muscle car. The Shelby GT350 Mustang’s track capability, excellent handling, and powerful engine were all contributing factors in topping its segment.

The Hispanic Motor Press considers roughly 100 vehicles across more than a dozen vehicle segments every year. This year’s jury committee included president Ricardo Rodríguez-Long (Host/Editor, Garage Latino); Camilo Alfaro (Autoproyecto); German Angel (SoCal Public TV); Cesar Arredondo (National Hispanic Journalist Association – LA Chapter); Yvonne Condes (Moms LA); David Leon (La Prensa Colombiana Newspaper); Jaime Florez (ESPN Radio); Jose Pepe Forte (Univision Radio); Luis Galindo (El Hispano Magazine); Simon Gomez; Enrique Kogan (Huffington Post) Alejandro Maciel (Hoy Los Angeles Newspaper); Yolanda Machado (Sassy Mama in LA); Valerie Menard (Latino Traffic Report); German Sierra (La Prensa & Excelsior Newspapers); and Al Vazquez (FAMA Magazine).
