“Flat Out: The Full Lap” Chronicles Higgins’ Record-Breaking Isle of Man Lap
Back at the beginning of June, Mark Higgins took a 2015 Subaru WRX STI to the Isle of Man and broke his fastest lap record twice in three days. At last, Subaru has released “Flat Out: The Full Lap,” depicting the full 19 minute and 15 second lap in its full glory and including commentary from Higgins himself.
Seriously, this video is worth every second of the 22 minutes you’ll spend watching it. It’s one thing to hear that Higgins set a course record with an average speed of 117.510 mph, but it’s another thing to see the road whizzing past, to hear the WRX’s engine growling in response, to watch every corner handled with expert efficiency.
In addition to “Flat Out: The Full Lap,” we get “Subaru Isle of Man TT Challenge: The Car,” which gives us an up close and personal look at the 2015 WRX STI that broke the record.
Worth noting: if you were thinking about getting a WRX STI for yourself, the car that Higgins drove in his record-breaking attempts were stock U.S.-spec models with only moderate alterations. So, if that sweetens the pot for you any, there you have it.
