Ford: 2017 F-150 Raptor is 25 Percent Faster Off-Road
The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is coming, and when it gets here, its badassery will be substantiated by more than 1,000 miles of off-road testing.
Ford announced this week that it took its new performance truck out to the sandy dunes of some remote location in the southwestern United States. The objective was to have it trek 1,028 miles through the desert in a fashion akin to how the 2015 F-150 was tested at the Baja 1000 prior to its production.
The results: according to Ford, the new Raptor is about 25% faster off-road than the most recent model. That’s insane.
The 2017 Raptor was put through its paces, averaging 50 mph for the duration of the trip and completing a tabletop jump at the end of each lap to test durability. As best we can tell, this thing passed with flying colors.
We’ve got a while to wait before the 2017 F-150 Raptor appears—it’s not supposed to arrive until Fall 2016—but so long as Ford keeps satiating us with good little teases of what’s to come, we think we’ll handle the wait.
