Law enforcement gets a real boost from Ford.

Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?  Clearly, trying to run is no longer an option.  Ford has announced that their Explorer Police Interceptor models will be available with the power of their 3.5L twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6.

The new engine option joins the existing 3.7L V6 option that is capable of generation 304 horsepower and 279 lb.-ft. of torque.  The twin turbo EcoBoost V6 will offer a considerable boost to those figures by putting out 365 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. torque.  This means that the Explorer Police Interceptors will not just look frightening, but will have enough growl to scare off even the most diligent of police K-9.

Ford is looking to reclaim its stake as the police vehicle of choice after the discontinuation of the popular Crown Victoria led to more opportunities for Chevrolet and Dodge to make hay in the LEO segment.  As if it were even possible to make the prospect of a cop in your rear view somehow scarier, Ford seems to have found a way.
