Rear Spoiler Traffic Warning Lights 2017 Ford Police Interceptor Utility

Ford announced this past April that it would be making available a “no profile” Front Interior Visor Light Bar for its 2017 Police Interceptor Utility, ostensibly making its plus-sized LEO vehicles more difficult for traffic violators to spot on crowded roadways.

This week, the automaker announced that it is adding Rear Spoiler Traffic Warning Lights as a means to compliment the Front Interior Visor Light Bar and make passersby more readily aware of emergency roadside situations, helping to keep both drivers and officers safer.

“Aftermarket light bars can impede visibility by hanging down over the glass,” said Stephen Tyler, Ford police brand marketing manager. “Our fully programmable Rear Spoiler Traffic Warning Lights are integrated into the spoiler, so agencies get their bright red, blue, and amber LEDs with no compromise to rear visibility.”

The Rear Spoiler Traffic Warning Lights flash in alternating red and blue LED lights, increasing officers’ visibility within the vehicle and making their vehicles more visible to drivers. The lights are programmable in a number of color combinations, allowing officers to provide signaling information, and can be auto-dimmed to 20% of their maximum intensity.

“Together with our front visor light bar, Rear Spoiler Traffic Warning Lights offer a fully integrated solution for agencies wishing to minimize the presence of their police vehicles,” said Arie Groeneveld, chief program engineer, Ford police programs. “While signaling to drivers of an upcoming emergency situation, it constitutes a clear safety benefit for officers and the public.”

Like the Front Interior Visor Light Bar, the Rear Spoiler Traffic Warning Lights are protected by a limited factory warranty. The lights can be preordered now for the 2017 Police Interceptor Utility.
