Ford and Hard Rock team to celebrate Mustang and music

The 50th anniversary celebration for the Ford Mustang rolls on with the ICON50 program, and Ford is teaming up with Hard Rock Hotels & Casinos to name 10 new musical acts who they have deemed the future of the music industry.

The ICON50 artists are: ASTR, Betty Who, Cathedrals, Elle King, Joywave, MisterWives, Sheppard, Smallpools, Young Rising Stars, and Young & Sick.

“There’s no denying the significant impact both music and Mustang have had on popular culture,” said Matt Watts, director of music and marketing, Hard Rock Hotels & Casinos. “The artists whom we’ve identified are each carving their own path, and have pushed musical and cultural barriers to reach a broader audience. They not only represent what’s great and exciting about music right now, we feel they’ll inspire and move people in the future as well.”

Ford originally announced ICON50 back in September as a means to examine the correlation and intersection of pop culture and the Ford Mustang.

The partnership between Ford and Hard Rock has also resulted in a cultural road map, available at http://www.fordmustangicon50map.appspot.com/#, which spans from Brooklyn to Miami and hits a number of culturally-significant music festivals and venues along the route.

Additionally, guests staying at Hard Rock venues will be able to download a special playlist that features music from each of the ICON50 artists starting in February.

There will be further events tied into the ICON50 program rolling out over the course of the next several months, including a similar route and list that focuses on the realm of all things culinary and will be sponsored by Zagat.
