Ford Announcements: New Ford China Chairman and CEO; VP of Powertain Engineering

On Wednesday, Ford made two executive announcements, naming Jason Luo the new chairman and CEO of Ford China and proclaiming Dave Filipe its vice president of Powertrain Engineering. Both changes take effect on September 1st.
Luo, 51, spent the past decade of his career with Key Safety Systems as president and CEO. Key Safety Systems is the fastest-growing automotive safety company in the industry and Luo’s leadership helped guide the company through global expansion and domestic revenue gains. Luo will report to Ford Asia Pacific President and Ford Group Vice President Peter Fleet; he will be based out of Ford’s Shanghai offices.
“Jason’s leadership and track record of business growth and transformation in China make him the ideal person to lead Ford in the world’s largest vehicle market,” said Fleet. “He will help us raise our vision in China as we become [nimbler] and [more] operationally fit, expand vehicle electrification, and begin to localize Lincoln vehicle assembly.”
Dave Filipe
Filipe, 50, has spent a quarter-century with Ford, filling a number of Product Development and global leadership roles since 1992. Filipe’s most recent role was that of vehicle line director for North American trucks, large SUVs, and commercial vehicles; in this position, he presided over the development and launch of the wildly successful 2017 F-Series Super Duty and the upcoming 2018 F-150 and Expedition.
As Ford’s Vice President of Powertrain Engineering, he will work to improve the performance and proficiency of future Ford powertrains. He succeeds Bob Fascetti, who is retiring effective October 1st.
“Dave’s broad experience in product around the world makes him an ideal successor to Bob Fascetti, who has made significant contributions to Ford, including leading the development of the entire Ford EcoBoost lineup,” said Hau Thai-Tang, executive vice president, Product Development and Purchasing. “We are grateful for his nearly 30 years of service and wish him well in the future.”
