Following last month’s announcement of the third generation of SYNC, Ford has revealed that it will partner with AccuWeather in order to integrate one of America’s foremost weather apps into its future vehicles. By pairing AccuWeather’s MinuteCast™ technology—with SYNC, Ford will put hyper-localized weather forecasting at the fingertips of its drivers, giving them up-to-the-minute weather information instantly.

“The new integration of AccuWeather for Ford SYNC AppLink will bring our customers the most up-to-date weather information while on the road,” said Julius Marchwicki, Ford Connected Services Product manager. “The system is easy to use, and with the addition of MinuteCast, drivers will get minute-by-minute forecasts for up to two hours to help them make safer driving decisions during bad weather.”

AccuWeather’s MinuteCast will utilize the exact street address or GPS location of a driver to relay information about the intensity and duration of precipitation. When inclement weather is expected, MinuteCast can also issue an audio warning to the driver to prepare them for what’s ahead.

AccuWeather and MinuteCast will feature in Ford’s presentation at the 2015 International Consumer Electronics Show, which will take place January 6-9 in Las Vegas.
