Ford Announces Leadership Changes in China, Asia Pacific, India

Ford announced this week that Dave Schoch, group vice president and president of Asia Pacific, will more closely oversee operations in China moving forward by adding to his responsibilities the title of chairman and chief executive offer, Ford China.

“As our growth plans in China have developed, this market is delivering an increasingly important portion of our revenue and profits globally,” said Mark Fields, Ford president and CEO. “Elevating the reporting of this business right now reflects China’s importance in our profitable growth plan going forward.”

Scoch’s role will have him presiding over all primary aspects of Ford China operations, including imports and products produced as part of the Changan Ford and Jiangling Motors Corporation joint ventures.

As for Changan Ford, president Marin Burela has announced plans to retire effective October 1st, but will remain on as a special advisor for Asia Pacific, reporting to Schoch in that capacity.

“During his 32-year career at Ford, Marin has made significant contributions to our operations globally, including leading the development of our global small car portfolio and building Changan Ford into a very successful business in the world’s largest car market,” said Schoch. “We are grateful for his many years of service and wish him all the best going forward.”

Nigel Harris, president and managing director of Ford India, will leave his current position in order to succeed Burela. His replacement will be named at a later day. All appointments are scheduled to take effect on July 1st.
