The Ford Freedom Unsung program, which honors the achievements and efforts of those working to improve the African American community, will partner with the Tom Joyner Foundation to take its endeavors to a national level.

The partnership will result in a contest that begins this month, which asks people to submit their nominations for individuals who are working to make a difference in the African American community. The nominees will be narrowed to a field of 10 after the Valentine’s Day deadline, and the public will then be tasked with choosing a winner.

The grand prize winner, who will be announced on or around March 16th, will earn a trip for two aboard the 2016 Fantastic Voyage.

“Ford has a legacy of honoring African American achievement,” said Pamela Alexander, director, community development, Ford Motor Company Fund. “We are excited to launch this national contest and reward an unsung hero who uplifts our community.”

Ford’s legacy in honoring African Americans includes the recently-launched Men of Courage program, as well as sizable donations to the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and the National Civil Rights Museum.
