Ford has announced that it is teaming up with Petty’s Garage—named for all-time racing great Richard Petty—to produce a limited-edition Mustang GT of great beauty and power. That beauty comes from a two-tone black-and-blue color scheme that accentuates the finer points of one of the most beautiful cars on the market today, and that power comes from a Ford Racing/Roush-supercharged V8 that generates a whopping 627 horsepower.

If the Petty’s Garage Mustang GT looks familiar, there’s good reason: it’s largely based upon a similar Mustang that was unveiled during the 2014 SEMA Show. The biggest difference here? You can actually buy it.

“We received a tremendous amount of positive feedback about our Petty’s Garage Mustang GT displayed at the SEMA show,” said Jeff Whaley, Petty’s Garage COO. “With so much interest, we began to explore the possibility of building a limited run of the Petty’s Garage Mustang GT.”

How limited is the run? Ford and Petty’s Garage will only be producing 143 models across the Stage 1 (100 units) and Stage 2 (43 units) variants.

The Stage 1 model will feature a custom Petty’s Garage front and rear fascia on the outside; custom embroidered head restraints and floor mats on the inside; and a Ford Racing/Roush supercharger, cold air intake, and MagnaFlow exhaust system under the hood.

The Stage 2 will get all of that plus upgraded Wilwood brakes, three-piece forged-aluminum wheels, and the same Tuxedo Black/Petty Blue two-tone scheme.

The Petty’s Garage Stage 1 Mustang GT will cost $62,210, and the Stage 2 will cost $92,210. Neither model is particularly likely to stay on the market for very long; in fact, the first Stage 2 has already been spoken for by none other than AC/DC front man Brian Johnson.

“This Mustang has just taken my breath away,” said Johnson. “It really is one of the best cars I’ve ever driven. I didn’t have an American car, but I do now!”

Johnson failed to clarify if the Petty’s Garage Stage 2 Mustang GT shook him all night long, but even money says it did just that.
