Ford has announced a number of expansions to its SYNC® in-vehicle connectivity system, including the addition of new AppLink™ apps such as AAA/CAA, Cityseeker, Eventseeker, and Concur. Other upgrades include the availability of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for vehicles equipped with SYNC 3, and the addition of AT&T 4G LTE behind its newly-announced SYNC Connect app.

“SYNC allows customers to bring the smartphone technology they’re comfortable with into a vehicle and use it without hassle,” said Don Butler, Ford executive director, Connected Vehicle and Services. “With SYNC, we move at our customers’ pace—making it easy for them to maintain a connected lifestyle no matter their choice of smartphone, apps or services inside and outside their vehicle.”

The new AppLink apps make use of vehicle GPS location and mileage, and they allow drivers to locate fueling stations and get prices, log miles for business trips, locate nearby live music, and make reservations at nearby restaurants.

AppLink will also add a new Send Location feature, as well as Glympse real-time location access for simpler turn-by-turn navigation.
