Ford Canada Kicks Off 2018 as Country’s Top-Selling Brand

Ford Motor Company of Canada is already off and racing in 2018, starting off the year as the country’s best-selling automotive brand in January. Ford delivered a total of 16,465 vehicles in Canada last month, a 4.5% year-over-year decline from sales of 17,232 vehicles in January 2017. Sales of Ford-branded vehicles totaled 15,944, and Lincoln vehicle sales increased 7% year-over-year at 521 units.

In total, cars were down 12.3% at 1,632 units and trucks were down 3.5% at 14,833 units. Ford car sales totaled 1,532 units, and Lincoln car sales totaled 100 units. Sales of Ford-branded trucks, SUVs, and vans totaled 14,412 vehicles; sales of Lincoln SUVs totaled 421 vehicles.

“Canadians value flexibility, comfort, and functionality, and that is driving the demand for SUVs,” said Mark Buzzell, president and CEO, Ford Motor Company of Canada, Ltd. “To give customers even more choice, the 2018 Ford EcoSport has arrived. Fun, capable, and connected, this small SUV gives people the freedom to actively pursue the experiences they most value.”

Both Ford and Lincoln SUVs put up impressive sales figures in January. Escape was up 19% at 2,885 vehicles delivered, making it second only to the F-Series in terms of volume. Explorer rose 13% at 1,123 vehicles delivered, Lincoln MKC sales were up 16%, and Lincoln Navigator sales grew a whopping 220% in response to the roll-out of the next-gen model.

Other highlights in July include a 41% increase for Mustang, 75% increase for the Transit Connect, and 4% increase for Lincoln Continental.
