Ford Motor Company of Canada sales in May were up 1.2% year-over-year, largely on the ever-increasing popularity of the Ford F-150. Total sales of Ford vehicles totaled 29,400 units in May, up slightly from the 29,052 vehicles sold in May 2015.

“Ford sales remain strong in Canada, with growth that continues to outperform the automotive industry through the month of May,” said Dianne Craig, president and CEO, Ford of Canada. “Consumers are purchasing Ford F-Series trucks in record numbers, Ford Edge and Ford Explorer sales continue to deliver, and exciting new products, like the 2017 Ford Escape and 2017 Ford Fusion, are arriving at dealerships across the country.”

Ford’s truck sales totaled 24,163 units, up 11.5% from the 21,664 units sold in May 2015. The F-Series posted its best May sales on record with a 22% year-over-year increase, and the Transit Van was up 49%, good for its best month on record ever. Other utility highlights for the month include Edge sales increasing 9%, Explorer sales increasing 23%, and Expedition sales increasing 79%. Through five months, Ford truck sales total 102,500 units, up 20%.

In a month where sales of sedans were down almost across the board, Ford was no exception. Ford’s car sales totaled 5,237 units, down 29.1% from the 7,388 cars sold in May 2015. To date, Ford has sold 18,724 cars in Canada, down 14.8% from the 21,966 cars sold through the first five months of 2015.

Lincoln sales were up 4%, with sales of the MKS up 38%, sales of the MKX up 129%, and sales of the Navigator up 2%.

Through five months, Ford’s total sales in Canada are up 12.9% at a total of 121,224 vehicles.
