Ford Canada Sets June Sales Record; First Half Sales Up 7%
Ford Motor Company of Canada got a 14.1% year-over-year sales bump in June; the brand was propelled to significant growth thanks in large part to another record monthly sales tally from the F-Series and a 13-year best for the Explorer.
Ford’s sales totaled 32,777 vehicles in June, an increase of 14.1% from June 2016. Car sales fell 9.3% with 5,154 vehicles delivered, and total truck sales were up 19.9% at 27,623 vehicles delivered. SUV sales were up 40%, led by an 86% increase for Explorer, 23% increase for Escape, 118% increase for Expedition, and 10% increase for Escape.
“Ford leads the fast-growing SUV segment through the first half of 2017,” said Jim Hartford, vice president, Marketing, Ford of Canada. “And Ford is well-positioned to meet future demand for SUVs with three new utilities coming soon to dealerships in Canada—the 2018 Explorer, 2018 Expedition, and 2018 EcoSport.”

Other Ford-branded vehicles that saw increases in June were the Mustang (up 38%), Taurus (up 135%), and C-MAX (up 87%).
Lincoln Motor Company sales were up 21%, good for the brand’s best June performance since 2010. MKZ sales were up 10%, Navigator sales were up 129%, and MKX sales were up 21%.
“With the all-new 2018 Lincoln Navigator hitting showrooms later this year, we are excited to see how customers will receive Lincoln’s reinvented best-known nameplate,” said Terry Erb, director, Lincoln, Marketing, Sales, and Service. “We are pleased to see Lincoln’s steady momentum continue as we close the second quarter.”
Through the first six months of the year, Ford Canada’s sales are up 7% with 160,368 vehicles delivered. Car sales are down 11.8% at 21,515 vehicles sold, and truck/SUV/van sales are up 10.6% at 138,853 vehicles sold.
