Bill Ford celebrates with Le Mans trophy

It’s fair to say that, nearly a month later, Ford is still super stoked about winning at Le Mans. On Tuesday, drivers Joey Hand, Dirk Müller, and Sébastien Bourdais; Ford Chip Ganassi Racing team owner Chip Ganassi; and Ford Performance executives brought the trophy to the Ford Product Development Center to share the glory with Ford employees.

“It’s always a great day when you can bring a celebration like our Le Mans victory back to Ford employees and be able to present this trophy to them,” said Dave Pericak, global director, Ford Performance. “This victory for was them. So many of our employees worked very hard to help us get ready to race at Le Mans, and we couldn’t have done it without them. And all of our employees, here and globally, have been behind us from the start in this effort, and we wanted to let them know how much their support meant to us.”

Chip Ganassi Racing team partner Rob Kauffman, Chip Ganassi Racing President Steve Lauletta, Managing Director Mike Hull, IMSA sports car team principal Mike O’Gara, WEC team principal George Howard-Chappell, Multimatic Vice President Larry Holt, and Roush Yates Engines CEO Doug Yates were also on hand.

Third-place Le Mans finishers and Six Hours at The Glen winners Ryan Briscoe and Richard Westbrook also attended for a Q&A and autograph signing. On the morning of the event, they also presented the gloves and boots they wore at Laguna Seca for enshrinement in The Henry Ford Museum.

And, just to make sure that nobody might get the idea that Ford was rubbing it in, Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn were lit up this week so that the face of the building read “GT Wins at Le Mans” in lights at nightfall. So humble!
