Ford China’s February Sales Jump

Ford has released Ford China’s February sales results, which indicate strong growth in the Chinese market. The Ford Focus is China’s best-selling Ford and the strong demand helped to increase Ford China’s sales in February by 67 percent to 73,040 vehicles sold. Sales for the year are up 59 percent, with 167,506 vehicles sold.

Total passenger car sales, including imports, rose 88 percent compared to last February, with sales of 56,284 units. Total sales for the year increased by 73 percent with sales of 128,882.

Ford’s passenger car joint venture with Changan Ford Automobile (CFA) sales were up 81 percent in February with sales of 53,272 vehicles. Year-to-date sales also skyrocketed compared to this time last year, with 123,310 vehicles sold, up 70 percent from the first two months of last year.

Ford Mondeo and Ford Focus sales continued to surge last month – featuring fuel efficiency, safety, turnkey technologies, and quality, these vehicles continue to lead Ford China’s sales. Ford Mondeo sales were up 123 percent last month, with total sales reaching 7,755 vehicles. Ford Focus sales reached 27,899 vehicle, up 13 percent compared to February 2013.

Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC), Ford’s commercial vehicle investment in China, showed steady growth with sales increasing 22 percent from February of last year, with total unit sales of 16,756. Year-to-date sales were up 25% with 38,645 vehicles sold.

Ford China’s February sales are certainly impressive, and continued growth in the Chinese market is likely. Ford just revealed the impressively-equipped 2015 Focus and also announced a partnership with Chinese telecommunication giant, China Mobile. Together they will bring two popular Chinese apps – Lingxi and Fetion – onto Ford’s award-winning SYNC AppLink technology platform, available to Chinese markets later this year.
