Ford donates eight Ford Flex vehicles to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Transportation Network

Ford is committing to giving back to Americans who give of themselves to serve the country they love so dearly, and it is reaffirming that commitment by donating eight additional Flex utility vehicles to the DAV Transportation Network fleet. The DAV Transportation Network’s mission is to provide rides to disabled veterans who need assistance getting to doctor’s appointments. With the help of Ford Flex vehicles donated to the organization, 700,000 disabled veterans were about to get the care they so desperately needed in 2016.

“Without Ford’s generosity and the hard work of our volunteers, we would not have been able to provide nearly 700,000 rides for veterans last year alone,” said Dave Riley, DAV national commander. “Ford vehicles are crisscrossing the country for veterans, traveling almost 23 million miles every year to make certain our heroes can access the care they earned.”

“We are inspired by their courage and salute their sacrifices in protecting our freedoms,” said Ford Motor Company Fund President Jim Vella.

The eight new Ford Flex utility vehicles are set to be deployed in: Augusta, Georgia; Des Moines, Iowa; Topeka, Kansas; Asheville, North Carolina; Memphis, Tennessee; Waco, Texas; and New Orleans, where two vehicles will be put into service.

Since the foundation of the DAV Transportation Network in 1987, Ford has donated a total of 215 vehicles to its cause, helping more than 18 million disabled veterans to receive care at VA facilities across the country.

Ford will also continue its support of the DAV Jesse Brown Memorial Youth Scholarship and its sponsorship of the National Disabled Veterans Winter Sport Clinic.
