Ford Salute to Dealers Awards

To kick off the 2018 National Automobile Dealers Association Convention and Expo in Las Vegas this week, Ford released the results of its annual survey on dealer giving. It was determined that Ford dealers from across the United States donated $110 million and 50,000 hours of volunteerism to charitable causes and nonprofits last year, with more than 90% of all Ford dealers saying that their staff contribute both time and money to various local causes.

“Ford dealers are the best in the world,” said Edsel B. Ford II, Salute to Dealers chair and member of Ford’s Board of Directors. “Their level of commitment to bettering the communities in which they operate is not only commendable, it also helps to strengthen the Ford and Lincoln brands in communities across the world.”

Of the dealers responding to Ford’s survey, 17% said that they contributed to causes related to first responders and firefighters—more than any other cause. Both children’s causes and educational causes (including scholarships) received contributions from 13% of dealers, and causes related to veterans of the armed services received contributions from 10% of dealers.

To mark the occasion and cement the importance of charitable giving, Edsel B. Ford II and a panel of four other judges named six winners in its annual Salute to Dealers awards. This year’s field of 60 nominees spanned the globe, with dealers from the United States, Canada, Brazil, Europe, Asia Pacific, Mexico, Africa, and the Middle East represented.

The winners—Dan Hay (Bakersfield, California), Don Jenkins (Clarkesville, Tennessee), Siegfried Ernst (Baden-Württemberg, Germany), Al MacPhee (Nova Scotia, Canada), and Ivo Luiz Roveda (Paraná, Brazil)—were all awarded with a portrait as well as a donation in their name of $10,000 to a charity of their choice.
