Ford has announced plans for a $60 million investment that will result in the development of Wagner Place, a new office and retail space that will be located in West Dearborn and become part of the company’s ongoing expansion of its Dearborn campus.

“Wagner Place will be beneficial both to the community as well as Ford employees,” says Donna Inch, chairman and CEO, Ford Land. “It is part of the company’s overall Dearborn campus transformation plan as Ford expands to be an auto and mobility company and recruits a new generation of talented workers.”

The plan will see Ford reclaim two blocks of mostly vacant buildings in order to transform them into a sprawl including bountiful green spaces, retail shops, and office space for up to 600 Ford employees. In the process, Ford will preserve and renovate the historic Wagner Building, a 120-year-old hotel that has lain dormant and uninhabited for approximately a decade.

Ford anticipates that the Wagner Place project will be completed by mid-2018, adding that the city of Dearborn will build an accompanying public parking facility to accommodate increased traffic.

The project is being wrapped up within Ford’s previously announced plans to revitalize its Dearborn campuses over the course of 10 years. The project will ultimately relocate more than 30,000 employees from 70 different buildings onto two sites: a product campus and Ford World Headquarters Campus that will encompass an estimated 7.5 million square feet of space. Ford anticipates that construction on its Research and Engineering Center will be completed by 2023, and that overall construction will conclude by 2026.
